Classical Revival - a 2026 Art Blocks generative system translating classical painting structure, ornament, and color theory into live GLSL and P5.js software, with digital editions and physical interactive objects.
Long Description
Classical Revival builds paintings from the structural logic of classical art. Baroque composition, impressionist light, botanical ornament, and rococo color are treated as rule systems that can be executed through code rather than as references copied by image generation.
The work is built with P5.js and custom GLSL shaders. Color theory becomes procedural behavior: warm-cool opposition, chromatic graying, value hierarchy, surface depth, and compositional balance are encoded into the system so each output feels painterly while remaining fully generative.
The project extends across digital Art Blocks editions, a dedicated live algorithm at ClassicalRevival.art, and physical interactive objects where touch introduces vegetal forms into the composition. This makes the work both a collectible algorithm and a studio study in how historical image languages can become responsive software.
