Dio
Dio is a generative landscape series released on Feral File in 2024 as part of the Vistas edition. Developed by Ronen Tanchum and Ori Ben Shabat, the work builds long-format digital paintings through code rather than fixed composition.
The series draws from Sumi-e and classical ink painting while translating that tradition into procedural image-making. Mountains, clouds, lakes, birds, and blossoms emerge as algorithmic brushwork, moving between restraint, atmosphere, negative space, and synthetic landscape.
For the studio, Dio continues an ongoing investigation into how historical image systems can be re-authored as software. The work is not a simulation of ink on paper; it is a generative structure that uses ink painting as a conceptual and compositional framework.
